What are your fitness and health goals for 2020?
There are so many fitness options out there, you just need to choose something that you enjoy and fits in with your lifestyle.
Not one fitness discipline is better than another, the main factor is your goal, your why?
There are also other factors to consider like your age and your mobility.
I have been training for over 40 years. It all started with me trying to imitate Tarzan, running around the woods and climbing trees in bare feet, (not much has changed),soon to be followed by my first experience of strength training when I picked up a Charles Atlas manual. Then came the Royal Marines where our fitness training was geared towards our role, real life fitness that has stayed with me to this very day, something you won't find in a gym.
I found CrossFit in 2008 and spent the next 6 years throwing myself into the WODS which was great, but now at 51 I have to adapt my training to try and reduce injury risk, so hopefully I will still be able to do the things I love in my old age like surfing.
I am obviously bias but for me exercising and moving outdoors puts a smile on my face and allows me to behave in way that is more inline with my primal roots. Running, walking, swimming, climbing, lifting, jumping, crawling and throwing are natural and functional movement patterns that are perfect for your physical and mental health, but may even save your life or anothers one day.
All this with a fun group of individuals, outdoors in the fresh air amongst the trees, really does tick all the boxes when it comes to all the recommended healthy living studies.
See you Saturday?
